Castro Street Fair Weekend is the perfect bookend to a summer full of activities and fun. It closes out the summer season with a final, but slightly softer bang, as we glide gently into the first fall holiday of Columbus Weekend. This year, one week after the big Folsom Weekend climax, it was back to Club 1015 for EPIC with DJ Russ Rich.

Attendance at the street fair seemed a little light, and the weather was pretty amazing for the day, and so the crowd was a little light at this dance.  However, the smaller crowd did not diminish the enthusiasm for one of San Francisco favorite DJs. The tribe was out to dance, celebrate, and for many spend some time on the dance floor after working through the previous weekends celebrations.

Russ Rich started off the evening with a set of joyful and happy anthems, weaving the magic he has come to be known for and in the T-Dance genre he does so well. Dropping in a version of Leona Lewis’ “Collide”, several mega hits by Kylie including “Get Outta My Way”
and All The Lovers”, a bunch of tracks from the Freemasons, and a track I have come to expect from Russ “Ring the Alarm vs. Bad Romance” mash up. Russ played a set that had even the most low key dancers tossing their hands in the air and singing along. This was the set we all wanted to hear and new the Russ could deliver. The crowd was there for Russ and they were feasting at the table of T-dance magic he was serving up for them.

It is worth mentioning that the lighting of the night seemed a bit better than a normal night. It looked like Alan Susanto was on the boards and he was adding some great energy to whip the crowd and room up marching along to the music.

A magical night as we celebrated the birthday of a member of our “San Framily” dancing in our home club. Truly this was a night that was made perfect by the friends surrounding us on the dance floor and the music coming from the sound system. Magical and memorable with time to “just be” in the presence of the tribe. These are the nights when your original plan was to stay home, or if you did plan to go out you had plans to make it a short night, but get swelled up in the joy of friendships and the love of those you want to dance with and the cares of the world can just melt away. These are the nights that make San Francisco a magic place to live, love and dance.
