Closing events for big party weekends tend to have the reputation among hard core partiers as the best event of the weekend. This year’s White Party closer had even more to live up to considering how well all the previous events had already gone, but it certainly delivered! They did not change up the decor much from the two parties held earlier in the weekend. They just moved some of the boxes around. However, keeping with closing party vibe, the lights were kept low so it was not much of an issue. Entry was a breeze. It took a while for the crowd to build as many boys went back to their rooms to shower, change, nap and otherwise refresh. By midnight the dance floor was filling up. It never got crazy crowded like the old days, which was a good thing…it kept the usually unbearable heat levels down to a manageable level.

DJ Tony Moran dropped his harder style of music and did an amazing job of bringing the night to numerous mind blowing peaks that had the boys pumping their fists in the air….those that did not have their hands in other places that is. Much like the rest of the parties, playful friskiness was everywhere! Unfortunately, the live performance by Estelle also mirrored the rest of the weekend and was simply dreadful. She played slower versions of her songs that were in total opposite of Tony’s music. We took a water break and were happy that Tony as able to quickly bring back the energy.

The space is a typical ballroom set up. A long narrow room with medium height ceilings. The outside foyer area was a nice place to take a break, as was the very large outdoor patio.

Guy’s lights and Kyle’s lasers were, as usual, amazing. The LED panel behind the DJ booth was a nice effect. During the peak hour the bathroom lines got a little crazy. They did not have the usual port-o-potties in outdoor space which would have helped immensely. Those lines were nothing compared to the lines for water and gatorade later on in the evening. Once they stopped serving booze they shut down most of the bar stations. We started buying two at a time to avoid having to spend so much time in line. This was the major reason for the point deduction.

I will note that while there was a nice contingent of younger boys attending the weekend, they were not as much a presence at this party. I guess at that age they need their sleep.

Around 2AM I felt I was done, but every time I did my “goodbye lap” around the dance floor, the music and the men would suck me in. I finally left at 4:30 AM. A pretty decent crowd still remained.

All and all it was a great way to top off what this reviewer feels is one of the best White Party weekends in many years.

Wow! Sounds like a great night. Did Tony Moran play his remix of Sariah’s “Deep N Luv”? Love that song!!!! (editorial: Karl we have asked around, but have not been able to get an answer to your question)

Just a quick note: Lights for The Closing Party with DJ Tony Moran were done by Bryan Holcomb and NOT Guy Smith. They both worked over the weekend but alternated parties. (editorial – thanks for the update Steve on the correct lighting operations team)
