IBR weekend drew to a close with the gathering of all at Club Ten15 for another installment of Sanctuary, our long standing holiday dance party in San Francisco. Following to major T-Dance events, PLAY with DJ/Producer Paul Goodyear and FRESH with the team of Wayne G and Phil B, the group that showed up at Sanctuary was primed and ready to go.
John Le Page started off the night, and had a reasonable decent crowd at the space shortly after opening, and by midnight as the numbers swelled, John built out a great opening set to give the crowd something to dance, get a little nasty, and raise the hands up in the air to. John primed the pump for the first time for Ted Eiel to spin at Club 1015, and as Ted took the stand the crowd was ready to push it harder and dance that presidential energy out of themselves.
Ted dropped a set of his classic style “Chunk House” on to the tables and at one point Ted was jumping in the booth while the crowd was jumping on the floor. Ted has come a long way in his stye and delivery, and the music was inspiration enough for this writer to jump up on the Go-Go box and dance above the masses for a while. In fact, thanks to Lincoln’s lighting be put on me while on the go-go box and the inspired music, I got my first ever tip on the box. Who would have thought. While I sadly could not make it to the end of Ted’s set, he had the place rocking.
It is worthy of noting, in the ever changing ways that Club Ten15 grows and moves that more changes have happened in the space. First, and this may have been mentioned before, the old smoking room in the upstairs dance lounge is gone, opening that space up as a much larger room. Second, the riser that was built in the area overlooking the main dance floor, has been removed and a new bar has been permanently installed along the wall. These are welcome changes in a club that is constantly trying to make things better and improve the operation flow and function of the space. The only thing not open last night was the tunnel from the back to the front of the club, which really improves flow dramatically, but heck, that’s really the only bad thing I could call out on the space last night. The nitro tanks were up and functional, the full array of lighting is still functional and the club seems to have talent that knows how to use it, the new laser was beaming away, and the mirror ball was going up and down adding some great touches to the space.
