There is no secret that Industry is one of my favorite parties in San Francisco and it is thrown by one of my favorite production groups, so pretty high group to start with for an event.
Following what had to be the most beautiful day in San Francisco, only potentially topped by the following day, Industry was opened on a warm San Francisco evening to pump out a product of heavy, deep, dark, and sexy dance music to an eager crowd. The boys seemed to have some how sent out notices and at about 1130, the somewhat smaller crowd of party goers started to quickly swelled and the queue to jump into the Industry scene was quickly going half way down the block.
The boys were in for a treat. The space, while baking all day long, was pleasantly cool, waiting for the night shift to arrive and start working. The music from opening DJ Jamie J was pleasant, kept your toes tapping as the crowd started to arrive and fill the floor. As Jamie was rolling out, what seemed like a new mix of Daft Punk’s “One More Time” over a chunky dance beat, the headmaster for the late shift arrived and began surveying the crowd and layout to prepare for his plans. DJ Abel, who only comes to San Francisco a few times a year. quickly took control of the shift, pushing the eager workers on the floor to go fast, harder, and deeper, as he brought his very unique deep, chunked out sound on to the work table. While it was not his typical Alegria work plan, it was very much in that genre and delivered all the fun, hard driving, sometimes relentless musical energy Abel is know for. I often felt torn to take my required break without feeling the sting of the task master pulling me to stay on the floor and dance. In fact, it was not until the small hours of the morning when a small exodus took place and allowed for escape outside to cool down for a bit. h
Great job on this party boys. The talent, space, and everything you did, brough out the crowd you wanted and needed last night. It certainly reminded me why Industry is the long running, long standing Saturday monthly party that it is and why I keep going.
