Juicy’s January Suggestions
Posted 6-Jan-2009 to Event SuggestionsHere it is – 2009. A new-year, new government, new parties, and a whole bunch more to come and to write about and it seems like I just finished writing up my December and New Year party suggestions a few days ago. So, here we go, back on this side of the pond, a few events to look forward to in January and small, self indulgent sneak peak of February 2009.
SATURDAY – 10 JANUARY
Good Time Love Club by Sean Greene
DJ Sean Greene
Underground SF, 424 Haight Street, San Francisco
10PM to 2AM
I personally have not made it to one of these events yet, but I have heard it is a fun small party, with some great music and a dirty (in a good way) atmosphere. Go here Sean Greene lay down some tunes to get your nasty juices flowing. Parking in the neighborhood is a bit challenging, so you might want to consider taking MUNI. Additionally, there is no real place for flow arts at this venue, not that you cannot give it a whirl, just that it is a bit smaller.
SATURDAY – 17 JANUARY
Pornstar Uncut by Salon Nights
DJ David Hawthorne, DJ Pam Hubbuck, DJ John Le Page and DJ Andre Shannon
Cat Club SF, 1190 Folsom Street, San Francisco
10PM to late
I attended my first Porntstar last month, and I have to say, it was different and fun. Yes, there are lots of hot bodied stars of the adult film industry to be seen running all over the club, and that certainly adds a bit of fun to the environment. So get out the some tight fitting jeans on and head down to dance away with the adult celebrities for a fun, if not naughty evening. Flow artists may be able to play for a little while early in the evening, until the main floor fills up, and then may be able to continue to enjoy their activities up in the front dance space.
Industry
DJ Randy Bettis and DJ Jamie J Sanchez
Mighty SF, 119 Utah Street, San Francisco
10PM to late
A regular favorite of mine, Industry continues to be a gem of a party in San Francisco, and I am sure Randy Bettis and Jamie J will not disappoint this time either. SPECIAL NOTE TO FLOW ARTISTS – This Industry will have a flagging stage time from opening until 1AM and from 3AM until closing (a short break for the go-go dancers to strut their stuff). Thanks to Luke and Jamie for purchasing black lights and making this happen. Make sure you bring your flow toys to the party and enjoy the first of what we hope will be at least a quarterly stage at Industry and support for flagging/fanning/poi at another space in San Francisco.
SUNDAY – 18 JANUARY
Fresh
DJ Brett Henrichsen
Ruby Skye, 420 Mason Street, San Francisco
6PM to Midnight
The January installment of Fresh will have super DJ Brett Henrichsen spinning some of the best T-Dance music you can find on the circuit. I have to admit that the last few sets I have heard from Brett have been just simply amazing and so I would hope this would be as good. This is a great warm up party if you plan to continue your holiday weekend at Sanctuary following Fresh. Flow artists are welcome to find some space on the stage and have a good time, but space is very limited. Lately the crowd at this party has been showing up much later than the 6PM start time (closer to 8PM usually), but if you can get in earlier there will be a lot of dancing fun to be had, the drop yourself into a taxi and continue the night at the next event.
Sanctuary
by Gus Presents
DJ Roland Belmares and DJ David Knapp
Club 1015, 1015 Folsom Street, San Francisco
10PM to 6AM
Sanctuary should be a great way to make your holiday weekend (Martin Luther King weekend) a little more special. Known for attracting the beefier, muscle, hairy, crowd, and this party should please most enthusiasts with music by Roland Belmares and David Knapp. Flow artists can also enjoy this space as it has the wonderful stage (which seems to have a temporary extension in it) for playing with all sorts of flow toys. Cannot say if the entire club will be open to the event, but I hear following the great success of Black XXXMas that the potential is there. I think this is a must do event if you are itching for a little club time in January.
SATURDAY – 31 JANUARY
Underworld
by Gus Presents
DJ Rob Kaftan and DJ Kevin Lee
Space 550, 550 Barneveld, San Francisco
10PM to late
I have suggested Underworld on several occasions before and do suggest that if you have never been to one of these parties that you give it a try. It is really not so bad; as the staff makes it very easy to do the coat check/clothes check and get yourself out of your pants and onto the dance floor. Go check out In Jeanous Lounge on Castro for the latest underwear selections and to find something cute and just perfect for the underwear party. Flow artists love this space as well because there is a great stage with plenty of black light to use, and nothing looks better than some hot underwear glowing in the black light. Love to see some of the bears give this dance a shot too, and hopefully I will not get sick this time and miss it myself.
